I think that this is my best sketchbook page so far, because in it I experimented with techniques, found an interesting concept, and included things that represent me. In this sketchbook page, I used a variety of different materials, including oil pastels to make the cats stand out from the rest of the scene, pencil and sharpie to make and trace the lines on the pages, and watercolors to fill in the pages. In fact, I decided to try a new technique with the watercolors when I was painting the orange trees and the purple sky. I painted the colors on first, and then added drops of water at the treeline. After that, I hung the page upside-down for a few seconds to let the water drip down to make more pronounced trees. I also like the effect that I did on the sky, because I put more water in separate rings in the sky and this caused the water rings to turn into lines, which add another sort of dimension to the pages. This page in my sketchbook really stands out from the rest because of the amount of detail and interesting techniques used in it. It is portraying the change of seasons from summer (on the left side) to fall (on the right side.) I set it in Paris because I really like the culture of Paris as well as the atmosphere and the monuments, and I also wanted to add a cat into the picture. After all, I wanted to make a new take on the classic "a cat on the roof in Paris" scene. I think that, because this page communicates a unique change from one season to the next, that people would think that it is interesting.
